Santa Cruz Expedition 4D/3N: Dreamlike Landscapes in the Cordillera Blanca
Itinerary
We will depart from Huaraz, traveling through the picturesque Santa Valley. First, we will visit the beautiful Llanganuco Lakes. Then, we will ascend to the Portachuelo Pass (4,717 m) to enjoy a panoramic view of the Cordillera Blanca. Afterward, we will transfer to Vaquería to begin our official trek. You will descend to the Huaripampa Valley through Andean meadows and rural settlements. Finally, we will arrive in the Paria Valley to set up our first camp under the stars.
Today we will begin the ascent to the Punta Unión Pass (4,750 m). This ancient trade route offers an immediate visual reward. From the summit, you will contemplate the Santa Cruz Valley and its turquoise glacial lakes. You will see majestic peaks such as Taulliraju and Rinrijirca in the distance. After enjoying the scenery, we’ll descend to the Taullipampa meadow. There, we’ll set up camp surrounded by the grandeur of Peru’s highest mountains.
Today, we’ll head to the Alpamayo Base Camp. This mountain is renowned as one of the most beautiful in the world. During the trek, you’ll explore the tranquil Arhuaycocha Lagoon. You’ll experience the serenity of the glacial environment while capturing spectacular photographs. After enjoying the viewpoint, we’ll continue our descent through the valley. Finally, we’ll arrive at Llamacorral for our last night camping amidst pristine nature.
On our last day, we’ll take a gentle hike to the village of Cashapampa. You’ll enjoy the rocky landscapes and the sound of the Santa Cruz River one last time. Upon arrival in the village, our private transportation will be waiting to transfer us back to our destination. We will return to Huaraz with the satisfaction of having completed one of the most famous circuits in the world. You will close this unforgettable experience with memories that will last forever.

Recommendations
For the Santa Cruz Trek, you’ll need versatile gear. Therefore, pack the following:
- A 65-liter hiking backpack and a small daypack.
- A technical sleeping bag (rated to -10°C) and trekking poles.
- Layered clothing: thermal underwear, fleece, and a Gore-Tex waterproof jacket.
- Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots.
- Sunscreen (SPF 40+), sunglasses, and a headlamp.

Our chef prepares a variety of hot dishes. We also include energizing snacks every day.
The donkeys carry the logistical equipment and your canvas bag (maximum 7kg). You only carry your light backpack.
