The Huascarán Loop: 2 Days of Magic, Faith and Giant Mountains

If you’re looking for an experience that challenges your senses and uplifts your spirit, this program is your destination. The Huascarán Loop tour is more than just a road trip. It’s a profound journey through the grandeur of Peru’s highest snow-capped mountain. Circumnavigating its slopes allows you to connect with landscapes that change at every turn. You’ll discover the essence of the Andes on a journey that unites faith, art, and nature. It is, without a doubt, the most moving route to experience the soul of the Cordillera Blanca.

Huascarán: Where Art and Grandeur Meet

Traveling this circuit is a life-changing experience. It’s a trip designed for two intense days between the Callejón de Huaylas and Conchucos valleys. Many call it “The Path of Andean Faith.” This package offers an immersion in authentic villages like Chacas, a world-renowned town. It’s a favorite among those seeking to avoid repetitive routes and experience the mountains up close. Here, every silence and every handcrafted work tells a story of millennia past.

Why choose the Huascarán Loop Tour with Andina Travel?

Our route has been carefully planned to offer you photogenic landscapes and vibrant culture. The geography invites you to cross the world’s highest vehicular tunnel at Punta Olímpica. It compels you to contemplate the pristine Llanganuco lagoons from Portachuelo. The reward is not just circumnavigating the 6,768-meter mountain. You’ll enjoy Italian-Andean dinners and workshops with local artists in magical settings. Trust your curiosity and let yourself be guided by the natural power of the Peruvian giant.

Itinerary

We depart from Huaraz, traveling through the Callejón de Huaylas with the Cordillera Blanca as a backdrop. Our first stop is in Carhuaz to enjoy its artisanal fruit ice creams. The journey continues upwards, crossing the Punta Olímpica, the highest vehicular tunnel in the world. We’ll stop at Laguna Cancaragá to capture its turquoise waters in photographs. We arrive in Chacas to stay at the welcoming Hotel La Casona Chacas. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Mama Ashu Sanctuary and the Don Bosco artisan workshops. The day concludes with an intimate workshop with a local artist and a traditional dinner.

We begin the day crossing Yanama with majestic views of the Cordillera Blanca. After a local Andean breakfast, we’ll visit the “Solo Dios” Sanctuary for a moment of peace. We continue to the Portachuelo de Llanganuco, one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the park. We’ll see the Chinancocha and Orconcocha lagoons, guarded by gigantic glaciers. We’ll descend to walk near their waters and experience the purity of the natural environment. We’ll have lunch in Yungay and visit its historic cemetery with deep respect. Finally, we return to Huaraz, concluding an experience that unites landscape, faith, and emotion.
