Itinerary
Our trek begins in the district of Queropalca at 3,831 meters. First, we’ll have breakfast to fuel up. Afterward, we’ll begin a gradual ascent through the Carhuacocha Valley. The landscape will surround you with wide valleys and snow-capped peaks. Finally, we’ll reach Carhuacocha Lagoon. From there, you’ll see the Siula and Yerupajá peaks reflected in the water. We’ll enjoy a warm snack as the sun sets behind the glaciers.
We’ll start our trek very early. Our main destination is the Mirador de las Tres Lagunas (Three Lagoons Viewpoint). From here, you’ll admire the turquoise waters of Gangrajanca, Siulacocha, and Quesillacocha. Afterward, we’ll ascend to the Siula Pass (4,800m). This location offers a majestic panoramic view of Yerupajá. However, the descent is equally exciting. We’ll head down to the Huayhuash campsite to rest under the starry sky.
This day presents the greatest technical challenge of the expedition. We will depart from camp to conquer Trapecio Pass (5,050m). The route traverses breathtaking high-mountain landscapes. Then, we will reach the Jurau Glacier Viewpoint. At 5,120 meters above sea level, the view is truly unforgettable. You will see the Sarapo and Siula Grande mountains in all their grandeur. In the afternoon, we will return to camp to spend our last night in the Andes.
The final day begins with renewed energy. We’ll cross the León Huacanán Pass to bid farewell to the snow-capped peaks. Afterward, we’ll hike to Laguna Viconga. Finally, we’ll arrive at the Guñoc Hot Springs. There, you can relax your body in the warm, medicinal waters. It’s the perfect reward after days of physical exertion. Then, we’ll board our transport back to Lima with unforgettable memories.
